MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 don’t have public REST APIs. To bridge MT brokers (ICMarkets, Pepperstone, FTMO, MFF, GetLeveraged, etc.) into the Glitch Trade dashboard, we use MetaApi.cloud as the cloud gateway.

Why this is the safest credentialed path

You never hand your MT password to Glitch Trade. The connect flow:
  1. You enter your MT login + password + broker server in our Connect dialog
  2. The platform forwards them straight through to MetaApi.cloud (no copy on our side)
  3. MetaApi provisions a hosted bridge to your broker
  4. We receive only the MetaApi accountId — the password lives encrypted in MetaApi’s cloud
Our database holds zero MT credentials. We can’t, for example, log into your broker’s web platform with what we have.

When to pick it

  • Your prop firm is MetaTrader-only (most legacy firms; many new ones still)
  • Your broker isn’t on cTrader, TradeLocker, or DXtrade
  • You want to track challenges across MetaTrader brokers in the same dashboard

How to connect

1

Open Settings → Connect another broker → MT4 / MT5

Four fields: MT Login (numeric), Password, MT Server, Environment.
2

Recommended: use the MT investor password

MetaTrader supports two passwords per account — master (full access) and investor (read-only). Use the investor password. Even MetaApi can’t trade with it; the broker rejects orders. This is defense in depth: if anything in the chain ever misbehaves, your account stays safe.
3

Find your MT server name

Look in your broker’s account email or in the MT terminal under File → Login to Trade Account. Examples: ICMarketsSC-Demo, FTMO-Demo, GetLeveraged-Trade. The exact string matters.
4

Click Exchange & connect

The platform provisions a MetaApi account; takes ~30–120 seconds for MetaApi to establish the bridge. The Track tile shows the account once it’s DEPLOYED + CONNECTED.

Trust posture

🌉 Cloud-bridged. Your password is held encrypted at MetaApi (their disclosed security posture), not on our servers. We never see your MT password.

What “investor password” means in practice

Some prop firms (e.g. The5ers, Apex) only issue a master password and don’t expose an investor password by default. In that case the master password is what you’ll provide — Glitch Trade still doesn’t trade on the account (we only call MetaApi’s read-state endpoints, not order-placement endpoints) but the safest theoretical posture isn’t available until your broker exposes investor credentials.
