Apex Trader Funding, rules + payout math

Futures-focused. Apex 4.0 $50K Eval: 6% target ($3K), $2,500 trailing drawdown, EOD path has a $1,000 daily-loss limit (2%). No consistency rule in eval. Funded PA pays bi-weekly after the 10-day window.

Apex Trader Funding is the largest US futures prop. The Apex 4.0 product line ($50K Eval as the representative tier) uses a $2,500 trailing drawdown that recalculates end-of-day or stays static on the Intraday path. The EOD path adds a $1,000 daily-loss limit (2%); the Intraday path has no DLL. No formal consistency rule in eval, that was a funded-PA-only rule and was relaxed from 30% to 50% in March 2026 anyway.

Common breach reasons

Where traders blow Apex Trader Funding accounts.

The patterns we see most often, informed by the rule structure, not anecdote. Each one is something our backtester catches on a pre-flight run.

Trailing drawdown ($2,500 on $50K)

End-of-day path: the floor recalculates each session based on closed-equity high. Holding losing positions overnight without closing them moves the floor against you. Intraday path: the floor is fixed at starting balance minus $2,500 and locks at +$100 above starting once you reach that level.

$1,000 daily-loss limit (EOD path only)

On the EOD path the daily loss caps at $1,000 (2% of $50K). The Intraday path has no DLL. Picking the wrong path for your style is the second-most-common bust at Apex.

Path-switching mid-eval

You can move between Intraday and EOD paths but only at the start of a trading session. Switching during an open position locks the rules of whichever path was active when the trade opened.

FAQ

Questions traders ask about Apex Trader Funding.

Is Apex Trader Funding good for cBots / EAs?

Apex is futures (CME) and runs on Rithmic, Tradovate, or NinjaTrader connectivity. cTrader cBots and MT5 EAs do not run on Apex directly, you need a futures-native execution stack or a copier bridge. Glitch Executor tracks Apex accounts when bridged through a compatible execution platform.

EOD path vs Intraday path, which should I pick?

EOD path: $1,000 daily-loss limit but the trailing drawdown moves only at session close, so intraday swings give you room. Intraday path: no DLL but the trailing drawdown tracks live equity, single big intraday drawdown can bust you. Day-traders prefer EOD; swing-style traders prefer Intraday.

What changed in Apex 4.0?

March 2026 update relaxed the funded-PA consistency rule from 30% to 50% (best day cannot exceed 50% of total profit at payout). Eval rules are unchanged. Various scaling-plan thresholds were also softened.

Does Apex restrict scalping or news trading?

No formal restriction, but Apex disallows trades that hold for less than 60 seconds being a meaningful share of total trades on the funded PA. Read their full rulebook before committing to a high-frequency strategy.
